The intrepid Intercambio Group went for a ambitious excursion to the Severn Riviera. Made possible by the summer Severn Beach Service. Using Bristol’s transport secret the fabled Severn Beach Line. Possibly used by James Bond to catch his boat to Jamaica from Avonmouth in pursuit of Dr No.
The train collected our group Hogwarts style from Bristol Temples and Clifton Down. Exploiting the Group Save tickets the fare was cheap as chips especially for those travelling from Clifton Down under £2.

Severn Beach once the home of the Blue Lagoon Lido is the easiest way for Bristolians escape their urban confines and see the sea (well estuary then). But our trip wasn’t all about a walk in the country. We were heading to Aust for a Sunday Roast.

We made our way past the vineyards crossed the road and entered the village of Aust making a Beeline to the Boars Heads a top local pub whose faye is even better than my last visit.

The Boar’s Head is a large pub that can handle large groups in winter and summer. It is a shame that the Sunday Severn Beach service doesn’t continue over the winter as it would allow folk a easy way do some winter walking to top up their vitamin D level. Come on South Glos. let Severn Beach have a full Sunday Service over the winter too. It will do your economy good.
